Altis Consulting expands advisory capability with key leadership appointment

Sydney, 29 July 2025 – Independent expert data consultancy Altis Consulting has appointed Des Viranna as its Head of Advisory, as the company expands its strategic advisory services to help clients unlock the full potential of data and AI.

With more than 25 years of experience across data, digital transformation and AI, Viranna joins Altis from Deloitte, where he was employed as Partner - Data and Digital, leading data and AI assurance services to commercial and Fed Gov. He has also held senior leadership positions at DXC Technology, BT Financial Group, Microsoft and SAS.

Viranna said Altis’ trusted reputation and focus on purpose-driven work made the opportunity compelling.

“Altis has built incredible trust across its ecosystem of clients, employees and partners - some client relationships span more than 20 years.

“That trust, combined with deep expertise in data governance, engineering and capability building, provides a strong foundation to scale advisory services and deliver real impact in the AI space.

His appointment signals a major step in Altis’ evolution as the company expands its advisory offering to meet client demand.

“There’s a need for specialist domain-level services and clients are seeing significant value in people who not only advise on the what and the why, but also translate that into concrete implementation,” Viranna said.

He sees a clear opportunity to expand Altis’ role in helping clients understand and apply emerging technologies like generative AI to drive better business outcomes.

“We’ll continue to grow our advisory work in cyber, data and AI, and also build new services - particularly around generative AI and how it can solve real business problems.

“That means focusing on education and enablement - from the critical thinking skills needed to use AI effectively, to the organisational change required to embed it successfully.

Viranna pointed to the Altida Data Load Acceleration framework product as an example of Altis’ solutions-focused approach.

“Altida makes it much easier for clients to load, access, manage and govern their own data. It provides a strong foundation for analytics and AI - and allows us to focus on solving real business problems using that data,” he said.
