Altis Consulting launches revamped DevelopHer training program to accelerate STEM careers for women

Altis Consulting is renewing its commitment to empowering female careers in STEM with the announcement of an updated DevelopHer training and mentoring program commencing its recruitment process in September 2024.

The updated program includes both technical and soft-skills training and is tailored to individual participants based on prior experience.

Altis will be showcasing the new program with a free DevelopHer Networking and Information Night at the Sydney CBD office on September 19. As well as information about the program, the event will feature keynote presentations and inspiring stories from both female leaders in STEM and from DevelopHer program alumni, along with a Q&A session and opportunities to network.

Preparing women for STEM success

“Altis is passionate about closing the gender gap in STEM through DevelopHer,” Altis Chief People and Culture Officer Charmaine Loratet says. “We want to provide a supportive and structured environment, both for women with experience in STEM and those without, to help them grow the skills and confidence to thrive.”

Altis recently named Katrina Pilcher as Chief Commercial Officer, giving the company a female-majority executive team for the first time. Executive Director and co-founder Hyun Choi says DevelopHer is an example of Altis’ commitment to helping foster a more inclusive workforce in STEM fields. “DevelopHer has empowered young women to break barriers, develop crucial leadership skills, and excel in their careers,” she says. “Our focus on creating a supportive community, providing mentorship, and offering targeted resources has resulted in tangible outcomes, such as increased confidence, career advancement, and improved work-life balance.”

Focused career development

DevelopHer aims to empower and support women to feel confident in harnessing their passion for STEM. It provides the opportunity to keep up to date with the latest technology developments, while supporting women in gaining the business qualifications and experience to move into the data and analytics field.

The updated program provides focused support for women regardless of career stage, including returning mothers and women who have had a career break, as well as female graduates or those completing internships in STEM.

DevelopHer programs run for six to eight weeks and are designed around each participant’s previous experience, education and transferable skills. Training focuses both on technical skills such as dimensional modelling and data visualisation, as well as soft skills such as presentation and negotiation skills.

As well as receiving training delivered by Altis’ own expert coaches, participants are matched with a mentor and have access to ongoing guidance and support, including personalised coaching sessions.

DevelopHer participants are guaranteed a job at Altis Consulting upon completion of the training, providing them with a stable entry or re-entry point into the industry.

“Altis made me a confident consultant,” says DevelopHer graduate Paige Nguyen. “The company’s working environment and leaders equipped me to present data with confidence, enabling me to show our clients I know their businesses and convincing them what needs to be changed.”

If you can't make it to the in-person event, join the Lunchtime Information Session on Friday, 27th September, 2024 at 12pm AEST.
